After Jay spent ages building my lovely big tank last year and everything being wiped out very very shortly after moving everything over, the tank has sat sort of empty since. Anything that went in there, for one reason or another, didn't last. Apart from Jay's papuan puffer Jimbo, fortunately, and a few months back he was joined by Merkin the urchin.

The plan was to get seahorses back in there, but I realised I just don't have the time (or money) any more to give them so I decided to have a 'vicious' tank instead. So we had a hunt around trying to find a puffer small enough for my tank, as it's only 250L, and different enough to Jimbo so they don't fight and decided on one that should of been ok.

While we were in Brum at the weekend we did our usual tour of fish shops and while window shopping spotted something that we hadn't come across while hunting on the net... a leopard toby puffer! SOOO CUTE! So he was snapped up, along with an adorable little valentini too. They have all settled in well and are getting along well too.

So, no more Sea ponies for me but my pack of puffers are so stunning!

Hi,

Recently move to birmingham and just wondered what shops you go too? I have 400l marine and am setting up dwarf tank for ponies. Am interested in all types. Cheers.

Our main two in brum are Maidenhead Aquatics - one in Notcutts and one in Earlswood Garden Centre. We also occassionally go to Shirley Aquatics, but I believe that they are closing down now, and from past experience have found the quality of the stock to be a bit hit and miss.

If you are going for ponies, you really do have to go to Simply it is well worth the trip!! I have not seen any look as happy as theirs.
