Hi,
Went to an LFS today and they had the most beautifull banded pipefish. It was only small, but looked really healthy and active, and apparently feeding on frozen (didn't witness this, and wouldn't buy unless I did). Anyway, I've been after a Banded Pipe for a while now, so I'm massively tempted...however...I assume that my Clowns would have to go (the females a bit of a bully!), but that my Yellow Watchman and Firefish would be OK, but what about corals? My stock in my 60L consists mainly of softies, but I do have a Branching Hammer, Duncans and a plating Monti (I know, I know SPS), how at risk are pipes from these corals???

Just done some research for you. General opinion is Hammer is a no no, duncan is fine as it is sweeping, not stinging. The monti is ok too.

As for the clowns, if you are already thinking that they may pose a problem then its best to have an alternative tank arrangement just in case. If you have another tank that you can move the pipes or the clowns to, then I would definitely try it. I have a clown in with my seahorses and my little girl actually adores him.

As you said, make sure that you do see the pipe eating frozen. I have always had problems with pipes and I think they can be much more fussy eaters than seahorses.
